Donating... it's generous.

Of course the Obscure Company Sit-A-Thon could never be the success that it is without the generous support of donors like yourself.  Over the years the Sit-A-Thon has collected over 400 individual donations to raise almost $30,000 for charity!  This year we hope to again beat our contribution of the previous year's, an impressive $7,500 to Camp Hope in Rhode Island.  Please help us out with this worthy cause.  There are a couple of ways to donate.  Either you can fill out our form and mail a check to The Obscure Company, or use Justgive.org.  If using Justgive.org please be sure to mention which sitter you are sponsoring, if you wish them to receive credit.  All donations are tax deductible, as both The Obscure Company and Camp Hope are registered charities.

Donating in 2009

Thank you for your interest in being a generous supporter of The Obscure Company Sit-A-Thon!  Our sitters are busy preparing for their grueling task ahead of them on August 22nd, and here is your opportunity to support them in their efforts to raise money for Camp Hope, a one week residential camp for children with cancer and their siblings.  Your generous donation helps to allow these children the opportunity to enjoy a week of good old fashioned summer camp, free of charge, while also providing the necessary medical oversight.

Donation Methods

  • Justgive.org: An easy web based method of payment.  Justgive.org accepts all major credit cards.  Reviewed by Forbes as one of the best of the web, Justgive.org deducts 3% of your donation for its operating costs (same as PayPal) but is set up as a non-profit to help in donations to other non-profits.

  • Web-Form: Fill in your information and pledge, then you may either send in your donation to The Obscure Company (P.O. BOX 20378, CRANSTON, RI 02920) or wait until after the event at which point you will receive a mailing reminding you of your pledge and a SASE so that you may send it back.

Donation Receipts 

  • If you donate by Justgive.org, they will automatically provide you with a tax deduction letter and receipt within minutes of your donation.

  • If you donate by check, The Obscure Company will automatically mail out donation receipts for donations of $100 or more.  The receipt will be emailed or mailed depending on what contact information we have available. Although we are only legally required by the IRS to mail out written tax receipt for donations of $250 or more, we are issuing tax receipts for lesser amounts to help out as many of our donors as possible.  Receipts for donations less than $100 can be provided by special request.
