10th Annual Buckeye Brook Earth Day
Warwick, RI
April 14, 2007

Cleaning up this site made us too tired to take pictures of the next site we went to clean.  In our never ending search for obscurity in all of its permutations, seven members of the Obscure Company met on Saturday, April 14th to see what obscure items could be found on some of Rhode Island's beaches.  We joined up with 175 other volunteers at the 10th Annual Buckeye Brook Earth Day clean up in Warwick, RI.  About 500 yards of Warwick beach were ours to explore and search for unwanted, human provided, litter-type obscurity.  And boy did we ever find it.  After 3 short hours, we collected over 15 car tires, a couple dozen bags of general trash, and at least one discarded anchor.  Had two of our members been a bit stronger, we would have added a radiator, a car hood, and a porch awning to the mix.  You try to pry a cast-iron radiator out of wet sand next time you are at the beach, and we will see how far you get!

For more information on the Buckeye Brook Coalition and their efforts for a cleaner watershed, check out http://www.buckeyebrook.org/, very nice people, with a very nice cause.
